Summer Staycation at Le Meridien (The Joseph)- Columbus

Columbus was named one of the top 50 Places to Go in 2019″ by the New York Times! Since Columbus is so highly ranked, we thought we would take advance of the amazing city and explore! So our family did our first staycation at the Le Meridien in Short North District inside Columbus.

When we checked in, we were met with the most friendly staff who explained how to maneuver around the hotel! Le Meridien has a beautiful hotel lobby with rotating artwork along the walls and a small restaurant, Soul, that turns into a small night bar at night! When I first saw the bar, I was worried about the noise preventing my little one from sleeping. Don’t worry though! You cannot hear any of the noise once you’re off the main floor!

Also, Le Meridien only offers valet parking that you will need to pay/day, or there is a parking structure down the street where you can park. Street parking is available around the hotel, but it is metered parking so you will need to make sure you plan accordingly.

We checked into our room and fell in love with the layout! We stayed on a relaxing king bed and all felt we had enough room to sleep! The entire room was extremely spacious along with a bathroom and shower! If you have bathtub kids, the bathrooms are shower only. My daughter had a blast pretending that she was in the rain/sprinkler! Le Meridien’s modern shower decors and room interior really creates a luxury room ambience.

Since Columbus was ranked one of the top 50 cities to visit (by the New York Times in 2019), we decided to stay close to Le Meridien and explore areas around the hotel. Below are a few maps that we used to navigate our way around the Short North District arena of Columbus. If you’re unfamiliar with the Short North, it can be described it as a fun, youthful area containing lots of art galleries, cute boutiques and businesses that are either locally owned or headquartered. It received it’s name for being north of downtown Columbus and just short of Ohio State University’s campus.

Breakfast at Soul:

Although Soul turns into a bar at night, in the mornings, they have a delicious, rotating breakfast menu! The restaurant’s hours are 6am-11am; which is perfect if you want to get in and out for breakfast. Since they share a kitchen with the restaurant next door, The Guild House, if you want a side, or substitution, the Soul staff can run next door to see if your request is available.

The menu was kid friendly offering items such as pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, fruit cups/parfaits, etc. However, the only downside was that the tables were only high top tables and chairs, so our little one had to sit on my husband’s lap to eat. The Guild House offers regular tabs and booths; however, Soul and The Guild House do not share eating spaces. We adapted and it wasn’t an issue, but if the eating arrangements are a deterrent for those of you with kids, come back without the kids because their menu is top notch! This is a definite MUST breakfast spot if you’re visiting Columbus! Not only is the space adorable, but they have some tasty food, check out the images below!

Thank you Le Meridien + Soul for hosting our stay!
