Do you have a skincare routine? Truth is, I did not have one for many years. In general, I’m pretty proactive except in my skincare regime. I only seek assistance when I experience a flare up or discoloration.

During pregnancy, I struggled with skincare issues so I sought out assistance and learned that my regime should revolve around 5 simple steps: cleanse, tone, treat, moisturize and protect. It’s been a few weeks, and I’m happy with the results of my new skincare routine,. If you’re like me and looking to start (or modify) your skincare routine, here are some highly recommended products for each skincare step:

PREGNANCY SKINCARE ROUTINE:

  1. Cleanse
    • CeraVe has a hydrating facial cleanser designed to cleanser without drying out the skin. I love how accessible it is and how it really helps restore the skin’s protect barrier. It’s one of the more affordable cleansers on the market too!
    • Drunk Elephant has a vegan friendly, gentle jelly cleanser that rinse away residue leaving the skin feeling soft and moisturizer. This moisturizer is great for dry, normal oily, and combination skin types.
  2. Tone
  3. Treat
    • Recently, I’ve been looking for ways to incorporate more BeautyCounter products inside our household. One company that is focused on pregnancy-safe skincare and all natural products is BeautyCounter. Their Counter+ All Bright C Serum is a great product that helps brighten and reduce dark spots while protecting your skin from sun damage throughout the day.
    • If you’re a seeking a boost for dull/uneven skin, Drunk Elephant’s Vitamin C Day Serum is a great place to start. It’s also good for dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles and restoring elasticity. It’s a bit of an investment, but comes highly recommended.
  4. Moisturize
    • CeraVe has various moisturizers available for different skin needs. Our dermatologist recommended this brand when I was experiencing flare ups too!
    • Created for all skin types, this Photo Brightening Moisturizer is a great addition to use after your favorite serum.
    • Drunk Elephant’s Protini Polypeptide Firming Moisturizer is another HIGHLY recommended product for dull, uneven dry skin.
  5. Protect (using an SPF)
    • I was advised to separate moisturizers from SPFs because often the SPF portion isn’t strong enough. Countersun Daily Sheer Defense for the Face offers lightweight protection from harmful rays and applies without the chalky white cast.
