Bedtime Summer Books

Libraries closed during the summer of 2020, gave us an excuse to venture into some great reads and let our imaginations wonder. Some stories can be a hit or miss, but if you have a younger kid, these books will be great additions to your library.

One of our favorite books that we received when Emma was a baby. A beautiful story about the love of ballet shown through the lives of two girls from different backgrounds.

Another book that we received from a good friend. If your library is apart of Hoopla (a digital media service offered through your library that allows downloads of e-books, movies and audiobooks) this book is available for kids to listen to and follow sight words to encourage reading.

This was a great addition for our family as my oldest has been wearing a bonnet at bedtime to keep her hair moisturized and soft day after day. I love that it shows generations of black women also using bonnets to keep their hair protected to help encourage the younger generation to practice routines that work.

While trying to get creative during COVID, we pulled out our tea set and ordered this book. I love that this book talks about the kindness, patience and sharing behind the enjoying a tea party.

A great classic treating kids to remember to be thankful to and for all.

What are some of your favorite summer books that you’ve shared with your family this year?
