Visit Union County, Ohio

Thank you Ohio. Find It Here. and Union County for sponsoring this post. Have you ever been to Union County? Our family visited and we left with full stomachs and even fuller hearts. If you’re planning a trip to Columbus, consider visiting Union County (roughly 25-30 mins northwest of Columbus) to experience cities with beautiful agriculture, rich community and good eats. Below are a few “must see” places inside Union County:

The Flour Barn

The Flour Barn is a Marysville’s city gem that offers some of the BEST baked goods. What started as a homegrown bakery has blossomed into a city staple operated by a mother/daughter duo. Try their amazing cinnamon rolls. Warning: they sell out quickly. Preorder to ensure you don’t miss out! The Flour Barn is open on Saturdays from 9-11am.

The Berry Farm

I tasted the most delicious blackberries from this u-pick family owned farm. Instead of digging through bushes, trellises and plants are off the ground so picking is easier. Baskets are provided and choose between u-pick and pre-picked thornless blackberries across 3 acres. Blackberry pie, cobblers, and honey from the bees that pollinate the berries are available too. The Berry Farm is open Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays during the blackberry season, but check the website for picking conditions.

Blue Sky Farms

Blue Sky Farm’s U-pick, 5 acre blueberry farm has been growing fruit for seven generations! With bags and buckets provided, you have your choice to pick from Draper and Chandler blueberries (depending on time of year). The U-pick season typically begins mid-July, and berries are sold by the pound. Check the website for the most recent information/hours.

Bokes Winery

Grapes can be seen growing in the vineyard on the property. Taste and see the Frasca family’s labor of love either inside or on their new outdoor pavilion along Bokes Creek. This winery offers more fruity wine options that are crushed and pressed into juice and fermented on the premises. This process creates local whole fruits and grape wines with no artificial flavor or color. During the summer months, Bokes offers a wine slushie that is a local favorite.

Queen’s Eats and Treats

Looking for an ice cream shop with homemade feels and flavors? Visit Queen’s Eats and Treats. Located in Richmond, OH, this eatery also offers a delicious cuisine.

Benny’s Pizza

Once a root beer stand, has transformed into a popular dinning and entertainment spot. Benny’s (roughly 12,000 square feet) features a large outdoor patio, live music, great atmosphere and flavorful pizza! Check Benny’s website for upcoming bands, calendar events and other restaurant announcements.

Lil E’s Ice Cream

Lil E’s family owned ice cream business has a menu filled with delicious treats. During your visit, try the local favorite, “Mia Milkshake.”

The Grainery

Located in downtown Plain City, The Grainery is committed to transforming their place into an upbeat atmosphere for friends and family. Stop by to sample their delicious cuisine (including fantastic BBQ) and back patio offering a great place to relax and enjoy live music.

1487 Brewery

Enjoy delicious German crafted brews and homemade Bavarian cuisine at this family-friendly beer garden. 1487 Brewery offers a wide range of craft beer with authentic German beer. The name “1487” received it’s name when Duke Albrecht IV of Munich wrote down the ingredients used to make beer which would later become the Reinheitsgebot in 1516.

Dalton Union Winery and Brewery

Located 5 miles outside of Marysville Ohio, in Union County, Dalton Union Winery and Brewery is just 25 minutes northwest of Columbus. After dabbling in winemaking for a few years, this husband/wife duo decided to make their business official. Visitors can expect to enjoy warm hospitality, wine, hard ciders and craft brew. Food trucks are featured every Friday, Saturday and Sunday as as well as live music every Saturday and most Fridays.

If you’re new and looking for drink recommendations, here’s some suggestions: Beer- Juan More or IPA; Hard Cider Smoothie; Wine- Black Horse.
