If you’re looking for ways to celebrate Juneteenth this year, here are four ways to get everyone involved in a fun, lively and beautiful holiday!
- Find an event in your neighborhood:
While the pandemic is changing the way we celebrate, there are parades and fair popping up all over. If you’re a Columbus local, here’s events happening in our city for Juneteenth.
- Rent books from your local library:
There are some beautiful books to help children learn about the world around them! Here are a few great books to introduce your kids to Juneteenth and Black History:
- Visit an exhibit or museum dedicated to Black Culture:
A museum visit is a great way to tell the story, relive the journey and embrace sacrifice of many who came before us. Check out some local museum in your area.
- Host your own backyard party:
Juneteenth is a holiday, and a backyard party is a great way to celebrate! Fire up the grill or order food from a Black-owned restaurant. Some of my favorite food choices are:
- Green Beans
- Mac and Cheese
- Greens
- Chicken
- Ribs
