Holiday Pasta with Barilla

We are officially into the single digits before Christmas Day! This year’s holiday gatherings will look much different, but they do not have to be less festive. While we are not hosting, we are still keeping our spirits high and adding fun decorations to our tables. Here are some fun and easy ways to decorate your centerpieces this holiday season:

Consider a centerpiece: A fun centerpiece is often the glue that holds pieces to a great dining table together.  Gather some greenery to add a festive Christmas feel to your dining space.

Simple is still classy: This is my minimalist heart speaking, but you don’t need all the extra “stuff” to look nice. A stunning place setting uses simple serveware and linen. Stack a few simple dishware, linen and pair with a DIY name card!

Incorporate Pine Cones: A great way to incorporate outdoor elements to create a woodsy, wintery look. Pair with red or greenery (from tip above).

@barilla is helping us get into the Christmas spirit. The girls love pasta so we are picking up our favorite @barilla pasta from our local @meijerstores. Adding more colors to our pasta dishes help with variety and to increase vegetable consumption, but we still keep it very simple. Below are the steps for re-creating this festive dish in your household.

1 box Barilla Penne Pasta

2 tablespoon Olive Oil (separate into 1 tablespoon for grape tomatoes and 1 tablespoon for combined recipe)

½ cup Parmesan Cheese

2 teaspoons sage

1 teaspoon salt

1 small carton (10oz) Grape tomatoes

1 small package (5oz) Baby Spinach

Directions:

1 Cook pasta until al dente drain and set aside.

2 While pasta is cooking, combine grape tomatoes and 1 tablespoon Olive Oil in pan on medium heat).

3 Cook grape tomatoes until slightly brown (but still firm) about 7 minutes. Once tomatoes are slightly cooked, combine with spinach.

4 Cover the pan and cook for 1 minute. Uncover and turn the spinach over again. Cover the pan and cook for an additional minute.

5 Combine grape and spinach with penne pasta.

6 Add sage, salt and parmesan cheese. Serve and enjoy!
