One question that I’m frequently asked is regarding products used on my daughter’s hair. Since my daughter and I have different hair textures, she uses different hair products than me. My hair products don’t often work for her hair texture and vice versa. Over the last couple years, I’ve been able to find some products that have worked for her curly hair.
One thing to note, the main hair goal (for my daughter) is moisture retention. Period. Healthy curls are often the byproduct.
Curlsmith:
A clean ingredient product that uses a blend of curl loving foods with kitchen cupboard staples and organic ingredients. This blend creates a product that is moisture rich for curly hair. Curlsmith products are certified by The Vegan Society and are not tested on animals.
SoCozy:
After founder, Cozy, heard of a friend’s son’s bad haircut experience, Cozy decided to open her own line of kids salons. She also found herself disappointed in the type of kid hair products she found, so she started her own kid’s hair products. SoCozy is made with premium ingredients and gentle enough for kids. This curl line has worked well on my daughter’s curly hair by keeping her curls healthy.
Shea Moisture:
Shea Moisture’s product line is so extensive. It can be overwhelming to figure out which product to try first. We found success with the moisture spray. It’s tough enough to use as an edge control, but light enough to give the hair the moisture it needs without the hair being greasy.
Miss Jessie’s:
Miss Jessie’s has a vary of products ranging from styling cremes, moisturizers, and deep conditioning treatments for natural & naturally curly hair. This sister started company is known for their expertise in styling curly, natural, kinky and wavy hair textures.
Shea Butters
Curls need oil for hair care and growth. Depending on your specific hair goals, you might need a different oil. We tend to stick with coconut oil and shea butter.
